Rishad launches his book at Mocha Mojo

Here are some pictures from the lovely session with Rishad Saam Mehta. He not only launched his book 'Hot Tea Across India' at the event but also shared some of his fascinating travel experiences with the guests present at the launch. His book presentation along with the stunning photographs he has clicked of the places he has travelled to, made this event truly an interesting one. 

He spoke about his bike trip to Ladakh, his dream to do a bike trip from Mumbai to London. His favourite travel destination to his interactions with people he met during his travel. His love and passion for travel came across clearly during his conversation with Mrs. Heena Munshaw of Beacon Holidays who launched the book. 

All in all a Saturday afternoon well spent. Here's wishing Rishad all the very best for his debut book. A book which has been garnering good reviews from every quarter!

Formerly a consultant with companies like Infosys and IBM, Nishant has recently quit his day job to focus on his career as a writer. Sorabh Pant has been touted as “one of India’s top six comedians”, by The Times Of India. His show, “Pant on Fire”, has toured 14 cities with 150 shows in two years; though, he’s done it mainly for the frequent flier miles. He’s also written/writing/in the process of having his columns cancelled for Mid – Day, Noise Factory, Yuva, Society, Asian Age, Deccan Chronicle.

Update on The Book Lovers Book Club meet

The Book Lovers Club met on Sunday 22^nd May at Prithvi Café. The discussion was based on the book of the month Devdutt Pattanaik’s The Pregnant King. It is amazing how mythology can have so many perspectives and give a reader so many points of discussion. The book in itself is a very good read. Highly recommended by all the book club members!

This year being Rabindranath Tagore’s 150^th birth anniversary, Kiran suggested that we read and discuss his works on the blog as well as at the book club meet, which we all agreed upon whole heartedly. So besides putting up reviews on the blog we would actively encourage our readers to contribute reviews /discussions/ thoughts about him and his writings. So, come forward, share your posts on our blog!

For the book club meet you can pick your choice of his writing and also do let us know which book you would be reading. The more different titles we read, more enriching the discussion would be when we meet.

Book Lovers Book Club Meet with Sathya Saran

Hey sorry in delaying this post by a week. But here are the details and pictures of our Book Lovers Book Club meet with Sathya Saran. First off, very big thanks, to Sathya for coming and reading from her fabulous book on Guru Dutt, ’10 years with Guru Dutt: Abrar Alvi’s Journey’. The book reading was accompanied by film clips which made the event truly magical and beautiful.

 It was an honour to have you amongst us, Sathya, and here’s wishing you all the very best for all your upcoming titles.

The meeting this time had fewer numbers. Many regular members were missing in action. Hoping that for the next meet we will see higher numbers and also the new members who sent in a request to join the group will attend too.

The members who were present discussed Steig Larsson’s ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and the unanimous view was that Lisbeth Salander was one of the most interesting and memorable characters of the book. Rohini had managed to finish the entire trilogy before the meet and her opinion was that Steig Larsson’s 2^nd and 3^rd books only get better. A pity he didn’t live to see his success and the sensation his books have managed to create worldwide. So the books should be on everyone’s must read list!

Our next meet is scheduled for 14^th November at the same time 2.30 pm. We will post venue details shortly. The book of the month is Audrey Niffenegger’s ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’.

The Book Lovers Club had a very successful second meeting on 1^st August at Prithvi Café. It was heartening to see more book lovers join us. We discussed, debated the book of the month ‘The Palace of Illusions’ by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni while sipping on some masala tea and coffee! Lots of opinions, lots of plot discussions, and lots of talk on the Mahabharat ensued before moving on to choosing the next book to read. The next book we have selected for reading is Amitav Ghosh’s ‘The Calcutta Chromosome’.  The next meet is scheduled for the 5^th of September. The venue details shall be shared soon.

Sidin Vadukut is a journalist, columnist and blogger. He has an engineering degree from NIT Trichy and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. In a career spanning around a decade he has made automotive parts, developed online trading platforms, almost set up a retailing company and had a sizeable portion of a tree fall on his head. He is currently an editor with the business newspaper Mint.
